John C.  Kowalewski Sr.
John C. Kowalewski Sr., 85, of Lakeland, died August 9, 2007. Born in Syracuse on Sunday, May 28, 1922, he was the son of Constantine Kowalewski and Rosalia Sklarczyk Kowalewski. After spending his early years in Syracuse, he lived in Lakeland for the past 40 years. John was part owner of Sky Window Cleaning & Janitorial Co. where he retired after 30 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a communicant of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and a member of the Auburn Elks. He was also an avid fisherman. John's wife, Judy PollackHrib Kowalewski, died Dec. 14, 2000.Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, John and Mary Kowalewski, of Camillus and Gerald and Cheryl Kowalewski of Skaneateles; a brother, Alex Kowalewski of Syracuse; four stepchildren; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 16 at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Friends may call Wednesday, August 15 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Entombment will be in the Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum, St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
